Middlesbrough FC: Unseen History
This is far from the standard football information guide. Richard Piers Rayner has created a selection of witty and charming illustrations that capture all those events which have defined the club but escaped the gaze of the camera.
Far from stale facts and tired anecdotes this varied book celebrates the past and champions the present day, with drawings in black-and-white,.
As much a wonderful introduction for the budding fan as a fascinating memorandum for the seasoned devotee, this unique title is a true treat that is not to be missed.
About the Author
Richard Piers Rayner is Artist in Residence for Middlesbrough Football Club and has supported them since being an embryo, just like his father and grandfather (who lived right outside the ground).
Richard illustrated the 300 pages of the graphic novel Road to Perdition over a four-year period, a labour of love that led to the faithful screen adaptation by Sam Mendes, starring Tom Hanks.
Rayner's previous credits for DC Comics included work on Hellblazer, Batman, Swamp Thing and LEGION. For Marvel he illustrated Doctor Who, X-Men and Captain America, among others.
