Jimmy Delaney is unique in world football in that he won three Cup Winners’ Medals in three different countries in three diferent decades - quite a feat! Added in that it was Celtic, Man Utd and Derry City and you have a great story.

The book details all Delaney's achievements, including the horrendous injury that he suffered on the eve of World War Two and the family tragedy that also came his way.

He won the Scottish Cup for Celtic before World War Two, the English Cup for Manchester United immediately after the end of the war and the Irish Cup for Derry City in the 1950s. In addition, he won 13 caps for Scotland.

There is an account of his famous goal in the Victory International of 1946 which lit up all of Scotland.

He played for seven clubs in total in a career which lasted from 1933–1957. Jimmy was renowned for good sportsmanship and remained a humble man from a small village in Lanarkshire.

David Potter has supported Celtic all his life, a condition he inherited from his father. He is a retired teacher of Classics and Spanish, and first saw Celtic in 1958.

He has written about 20 books on Scottish football, mainly on great Celtic players like Jimmy Delaney, Jimmy Quinn, Patsy Gallacher, Jimmy McMenemy, Tommy McInally, Jim Young and Bobby Murdoch.

He is married to Rosemary, lives in Kirkcaldy, has three children and four grandchildren. His other interests are cricket, drama, the poetry of Robert Burns and walking his beloved dog.
