This book looks at a wide range of circumstances involving cricket in Kent, players who at some stage have played for Kent, the County’s officials and its facilities, and where something unusual has taken place.

Players are featured from all eras with legendary names from the past up to the present time. Read about the actions of a Kent captain described as “One of the dumbest things I’ve seen in my life”.

The batsman who failed to resume his innings after lunch because he was lunching with a widow. The player who was jailed for armed robbery and the vicar accused of never allowing his clerical duties to interfere with cricket.

The withdrawal of County Cricket from seven Kent grounds since the last war. Why the suffragettes set fire to a Kent cricket pavilion. How problems with weather and floodlights affected matches.

Read about umpires, official and unofficial tours, overseas players, Kent’s influence on the Laws of the game, men of the cloth, disputes involving teams and players and much more.
